Recently Jake Meyer, the youngest British person to ever climb Mt Everest, gave a inspirational talk at my company.

He talked about his climb, and how he motivated himself to make it to the top. He also spoke about some of the less glamourous sides of climbing a mountain where man is not meant to go - drinking melted ice; choosing the right moments to use your oxygen; climbing using ropes that really don't feel that safe; and having to pass other less successful climber's dead bodies who've tried and failed to climb the mountain before.

His talk did make me think about the things I want to achieve in life, and while they aren't on such a large scale as climbing the highest mountain in the World; there are many things that I've wanted to do for a long time and have never done.

Which is why next year I'm going to try and aim to do something I've never done before each and every month. I'm not sure if I'll suceed for the entire year, but if I do just 5 new things then perhaps a few of my life's wants will be answered.

For example, how many year's have I wanted to go on a jet ski - yet I never have. Let's hope 2009 changes that. [:)]
