It's that time of year again. The turkey is well and truely eaten, there's a ton of gift wrap overfilling the garbage and Santa has gone into hibernation. The only thing that's left is the Andismith.com 2006 awards, of course!
(Don't pretend you've not been waiting for it.)
Casino Royale - The film category was tougher this year. There was no real film that stood out like last year's Batman Begins. Borat was easily the funniest film of the year, but I doubt it holds a replay value. Mr Bond's new film, however, was pretty great - rising from the anti hype and skeptism I previously held to become one of my favourite films of the year.
Veronica Mars - Lost slipped up a little, and while it's finding its feet again, Veronica Mars was a fantastic discovery. Well written, amusing and captivating, each episode contains a mini mystery and a piece of the puzzle to a larger 'Who-Dunnit?'.
The Kooks - Inside In, Inside Out - The toughest category to find one winner for, The Kooks won my award for album of the year. A true summer rock album.
Arctic Monkeys - Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor - I do! Catchy tune.
Bob Sinclar - World, Hold On (Children of the Sky) - Sorry to the Scissor Sisters but Bob Sinclar beat them to this award with this feel good dance anthem!
Kasabian - I started the year liking Kasabian. I ended the year listening to them while writing this post. If you ever get the opportunity to see Kasabian live, take it.
New Super Mario Bros - Nintendo DS - Classic Mario platforming was the winner of 2006, with a game I just couldn't put down til I had compelted everything. Sequel please!
Borat - Okay, he's a character, but Sacha Baron Cohen has made Borat his own person, and every additional BBC News article about some American trying to ban the film just makes him funnier and funnier.
Kirsten Bell - Who else?
(Amy'd win this if she was a celebrity - in my eyes she's a star)
Michael Schumacher - His last year racing in F1, and boy did Michael put up a fight against Fernando Alonso! Making the summer of the season all the more entertaining, Schuey will be missed!
This may be my last post before 2007, so Happy New Year!
